What about Bumper ads, asked a client

February 3, 2018

So what about Bumper ads a client asked me; Bumper ads are short video format ads for Google advertising.

A bumper ad is a six-second video format ideal for driving brand reach and frequency. They are available through AdWords as an add-on to traditional campaigns. They are sold on a CPM basis (Cost per impression, cost per view). So they may not be an ideal vehicle to reach specific audiences for a small business with limited budget. On the other hand, Bumper ads can both extend the reach of an existing National campaign and complement broader messaging.

Google created Bumpers ads with the shorter sessions in mind and designed for the moments when people are in a hurry or on the go.

But six seconds seems too short so can you get a message across in six seconds? More often than you think. Designed with large brands in mind bumper ads drive brand recognition and were intended to be a cost-effective way to reach the short attention spanned audience prevalent today. Bumpers ads are short on time, but they are long on impact. Google experimented samples revealed high recognition recall on its tested audiences
